I first stepped foot on the soil of Cebu in 1994. i did it once more the following year. then, i came back five years later.
from 2006 to 2008, i've been going in and out of the airport terminal just for transit either to davao or singapore.
i'm basically giving you history lessons here.
yeah, yeah...after 8 long years, i'm finally back in Cebu! This place is the second closest to my heart, next to Davao. Manila is slightly a notch lower coz i hate the traffic and the peace and order situation there!
I can possibly give more than 10 reasons why I love Cebu. my first out-of-town trip on board an aircraft is to cebu. the beaches are just so lovely. the people are nice (because they don't cheat people who can speak their language)...food is great and cheap! taoist temple and basilica de santo nino are too irresistible! we've got a lot of friends here...and much much more reasons...
i've been looking forward to coming here again, after such a long time. thanks to Cebu Pacific's all-year round low GO fares! I can finally have a vacation without thinking of anything else except to relax!
my first day here is well and good. after checking in at the hotel, we headed straight to sm north wing, the latest addition to the existing sm city cebu complex. then, we went to robinsons place, mango ave, ramos st, and fuente osmena area.
mom and i thought there wouldn't be much people in basilica de santo nino today since it's a friday. little did we know that there are hourly masses held every hour every friday!!! though there were so many people, we still managed to get inside the church...it was my fourth visit there, yet i still get amazed with the architectural wonder of the basilica! it even gets better as years pass....i paid a short visit to the church museum. there, i was mistakenly identified as a korean by the person-in-charge because i presented my international student ID. the person before me is a korean who also showed the same ID. she didn't read my name...had she done so, she wouldn't wrongly identify me. Where in Korea will you find someone named Aldwin Chester Yap Dumago...as far as i know, their names only have three syllables. the museum collection was very nice! they've been able to keep some of the very precious artifacts from the early period of Spanish settlement in the Philippines.
we left the basilica pass 5pm. traffic was terrible! i felt like i was stuck in traffic in binondo! the city streets and sidewalks resembled those in c.m. recto, sta. mesa, and avenida...i've learned to appreciate the cleanliness of Davao City.
we took a cab to Waterfront Cebu City Hotel, checked the Duty Free Shop and had dinner. then, walked across to Asiatown IT Park...there wasn't that much to see inside the IT park except for coffee shops.
by 10pm, we're back here at the hotel..watching ABS-CBN and trying to figure out what channel is under CCTN, hoping to catch Sir Dante Luzon's shows or newscast, whatever there is.
looking forward to another wonderful experience here in Cebu! This place never fails to WOW me...
 | wow its so nice to know na nag enjoy po kayo sa place namin :-) |
 | Looks like a fab time. :D |
XD |
 | pag-enjoy diha bai! pakapin sa kang aldo's suggestions: the better beaches are either in the far north (san remigio, bantayan) or in the far south (moalboal, badian, oslob). :-) |
 | lingaw!! niadto kag cebu? weeee :) |
 | ang carcar. lami kaayo ang ilahang chicharon ug ampaw kumpletos rekados imong comment! it can well serve as my itinerary for three days...hahaha...
my father is from carcar, cebu. naa intawun didto ang iyang manghud ug ang kadaghanan sa among mga paryente. the last time i went to carcar was in april 2000. ay, grabe jud didto ang chicharon! nagkalata...magluod na lang ka ug tanaw...sikat among apilyedo didto sa carcar..kapitbahay ra pud namo si sheryn regis.hahaha:)
we really wanted to go on a sidetrip to bohol coz i've never been there. pero duha lng man gud mi, and it will be very expensive. laliman kag P2500 per van pakyaw, then 2 ra mi ni mama musakay. wa gud taxi didto...
most of the time, we stayed within the downtown area lang. lahug, mabolo, colon, apas...mactan and lapu-lapu city are too far from our place because we only take a cab to go around, though i really want to visit mactan shangri-la again! i love that place..and hilton cebu (where everything is color pink!)..
maski asa ra gud mi mangaon ug puso and lechon...sa malls, sa carinderia..but on the third day, kasukaon na kog tanaw sa mga taong sigeg lanlan ug lechon.we didn't eat nor buy otap coz it's widely available in davao and nagdako mi na permi pasalubungan ug otap ni papa everytime he comes home from cebu. |
